Hi, I'm ERICA :)

Oh my gosh guys, here we go! We’re finally here, finally live and I couldn’t be more excited to be here with you. This blog has been a long time coming, like, a really long time. Everything happens for a reason and it’s super purposeful that it took this long for me to finally launch the blog the way that I wanted and a way that feels like me..

I’m mostly excited because I finally have my little corner of the internet where I can share all the realness with you guys as well as give you a look into my life and tips on my experiences.

So, Who Is Erica?

First things first, if this is your first time meeting me, Hey Boss! I’m Erica Smith from the small town of Shreveport, Louisiana by way of Cedar Grove.

I worked in the corporate marketing industry for 8 years before I called it quits in 2019 and jumped out into entrepreneurship 6 months pregnant determined to make something magical happen, and well – it did.

In two weeks I had booked over $20K in sales and never looked back. Why? Because in that moment I knew for a fact I could do whatever and make as much money as I wanted to.

At that point in my life I had always dreamed of starting my own business, working from anywhere in the world and making my mark. But when it started to happen for me, I got scared..

Self doubt creeped in and I found myself bouncing in and out of the comparison game. That sh** is a trap.. It’s hard but I’ve learned to block distractions and stay focused.

My husband and I have been married 5 years this December and we have 2 children together. He made me a bonus momma with our two oldest kids from his first marriage (and chillllleeeeeee. Don’t worry, I’ll have that tea in this blog as well, just make sure you’re subscribed to know when I post new blogs) being a blended momma is the greatest, most frustrating aggravating, blessed journey I’ve ever been on. It’s not easy and it got even more complicated once I had my own kids.

But again, more on that in a future blog. I can write a book on it..

What Can You Expect?

I know you’re anxious to hear all about what you can expect to get from this blog. Entrepreneurship, Lifestyle and Motherhood are the pillars of my life so yaasssss, you’re about to receive all this content surrounding these topics.

The goal with this blog is to allow it to serve as the home for all of my content. I also have a YouTube channel, so my weekly videos will shared here as well. I started my YouTube channel in 2008, yeah I’m an OG on YouTube lol, but more than anything, expect to get to know me.

This is my job full time, and I’m not trying to get fired so this content coming, you just get ready 🙂

Let’s geaux for new bloggers finding their voice and getting it done. I can’t wait to share more with you – I’m excited.

Talk soon,

Erica

    Hey girl hey!

First off I love the vibe I got the moment I clicked on the IG link! 💯. I like many others have lost income during this c19 pandemic and I’m taking it as a sign to do what I was actually sent here to do. Three things you mentioned in your about section that resonated deeply
    1) Lack of successful women that look like us but are actually real women on the grind and not a “influencer” with no true bases.
    2) I’m currently struggling with starting of blogging / vlogging and I’m trying to combat crippling fear of failure because I’m a bit of a perfectionist and I know perfect that’s not how it goes.
    3) I’m looking to make my leap of faith and secure my bag outside of relying on standard employment. And I see that you’re a real African American woman who has made it happen!
All this to say I’m happily subscribed and looking forward to what I can learn from and be inspired by your content here!
    Blessings ~ Nera

      And girl..
      1. I know. I’m excited to help fill the void of for more women who look like us. The hole is real, but I’m excited because I know I can make some major things happen.

      2. Listen, I feel you on the perfection. Wanting your work to be perfect is a REAL thing! But girl, you’ll never get that ball rolling if you don’t jump. Just do it refine it later. I don’t say perfect it later, because perfection is just another form of procrastination.

      3. Yassss Nera. I can’t wait to dive into this content. I’m here to help in any way that I can. Shoot me an email hello@heyericasmith.com if I can help you more 🙂
